Vehicles

Our most successful events have a mixture of old and new vehicles. This way there is always a 4WD available to tow an old car that may have broken down, which is part of the fun anyway.

4WDs

Our events are suitable for any modern 4WD vehicle (Landcruiser, Patrol, HiLux, Ranger, etc.)

2WDs and SUVs

The roads we use are predominantly country lanes (not 4wd tracks). Any modern car will safely traverse these roads. Most modern 2WDs or SUVs will be able to handle the course. The cars will get dusty but should not sustain any damage. You should assess the road conditions as you go. There
will always be a bitumen road to get you to lunch if you’re not comfortable with the roads we have chosen. If you’ve got a particular car in mind and are not sure about bringing it, just get in touch with us and we’ll talk it through with you. We’ve even had a 1963 Austin Healey Sprite on the Rally.

AWDs

If you have a Subaru Forester or Outback you will be fine. Similarly, a Mitsubishi Outlander, or similar will have no trouble with the course.

SUVs

Most modern SUVs will also be able to handle the course (regardless of whether they are 2WD or AWD). The cars will get dusty but should not sustain any damage. You will need to assess the road conditions as you go. There will always be a bitumen road to get you to lunch if you’re not comfortable with the roads we have chosen.

Rally Cars

Well prepared old 2WD rally cars are also eligible to enter. Cars that have been prepared for any of the specialised fundraising car events will be eligible to enter.

Mine Spec Utes

Most of the big rental companies have “mine spec” dual cab utes that you can hire for the event. These usually come with all the flashing lights you need and inbuilt UHF radios. You just need to fill the tank and off you go.
